In today's episode, we talk with Retired Staff Sergeant Shilo Harris, a decorated Veteran, about his triumph through recovery and the lessons he learned along the way.
Shilo Harris came from a family with deep roots in military service. As a son of a Vietnam Veteran, Shilo always knew he wanted to be a soldier. On February 19, 2007, Staff Sargent Shilo Harris was patrolling an infamous southern Iraqi roadway when his Humvee was struck by an IED. Moments later, three members of his crew were dead and Shilo had sustained severe injuries that would alter the course of his life. For forty-eight days he lay trapped in a medically induced coma, after which he had to come to grips with becoming a man utterly changed.
Shilo shares his inspiring story in his memoir, Steel Will: My Journey Through Hell to Become the Man I was Meant to Be. He is currently working on additional publications with Jamie PK on goal-achieving, relationships, and endurance. His short film, Shilo, was released in 2018, and is currently in the works for a feature film.
Shilo is a dedicated sweetheart to Jamie PK, and an active father. He hopes to leave a strong legacy for his family. Today, Shilo is a motivational speaker, sharing his story with corporate groups, Veterans and medical teams around the world.
